Forever Love
Maia LeClair
Maia LeClair
I want things to be good for us
here, in this world
where I can wrap my arms around your waist
and put my head on your shoulder
and kiss the place where your neck meets
your jaw
and I want things to be happy
sunlight filtered through the windowpane
and love love or whatever
ringing out from the record player
the smell of lavender on your knuckles
flour splashed across your chin
your eyes slowly wrinkling in the corners
we deserve someplace
a space carved out just for us
where we can just exist and breathe and wrap ourselves around each other
as the days turn into nights
as the world spins languidly
I want this and this and this
your forever smiles
your forever love
here, in this world
where I can wrap my arms around your waist
and put my head on your shoulder
and kiss the place where your neck meets
your jaw
and I want things to be happy
sunlight filtered through the windowpane
and love love or whatever
ringing out from the record player
the smell of lavender on your knuckles
flour splashed across your chin
your eyes slowly wrinkling in the corners
we deserve someplace
a space carved out just for us
where we can just exist and breathe and wrap ourselves around each other
as the days turn into nights
as the world spins languidly
I want this and this and this
your forever smiles
your forever love

Maia LeClair is a sixteen year old lesbian poet from the midwest. Her goal with her poetry is to try to depict the sapphic experience as she has known it. She hopes to inspire others, especially young girls, who might see themselves in her work, in a similar fashion as a lot of queer young adults relate to Richard Siken.
