Forevermore
Mel H.
Mel H.
I carry the burden of your headstone
Another anchor tethering me to your world
Hidden in a liminal space in my mind
Plagued by what could have been
I set my thoughts ablaze
And still you stand, beyond the smoke
Your genesis, my demise
Embraced by your smoldering arms
One by one, my teeth fall out
But you hold me close
While the flames begin to catch
And I’m once again reassured by your warmth
I have vague memories of who you are
Someone timeless. You are the rebirth.
And your flames extinguish
Leaving me beside myself with grief
Without you, I am no one
Without you, I am everything
And here I stand, engulfed by the flames
Where I’ll be burning forevermore
Another anchor tethering me to your world
Hidden in a liminal space in my mind
Plagued by what could have been
I set my thoughts ablaze
And still you stand, beyond the smoke
Your genesis, my demise
Embraced by your smoldering arms
One by one, my teeth fall out
But you hold me close
While the flames begin to catch
And I’m once again reassured by your warmth
I have vague memories of who you are
Someone timeless. You are the rebirth.
And your flames extinguish
Leaving me beside myself with grief
Without you, I am no one
Without you, I am everything
And here I stand, engulfed by the flames
Where I’ll be burning forevermore
