in this corner of the world
I may not have much
I have only 2 rations of rice
paired with 2 rations of bread
and 2 cups of water but,
in this corner of the world
I have your two beautiful eyes
your two soft hands
and your one beautiful soul
in this corner of the world
I may not have much
but I will give you my ration of rice
I will give you my ration of bread
and I will give you my cup of water because,
in this corner of the world
I may not have much
but at least I have you
I may not have much
I have only 2 rations of rice
paired with 2 rations of bread
and 2 cups of water but,
in this corner of the world
I have your two beautiful eyes
your two soft hands
and your one beautiful soul
in this corner of the world
I may not have much
but I will give you my ration of rice
I will give you my ration of bread
and I will give you my cup of water because,
in this corner of the world
I may not have much
but at least I have you

The author of this poem is a nonbinary LGBT POC living in a small town of very southern Georgia. They use writing as a way to escape from the harsh reality of having to present a cishet female everyday. In their free-time, they enjoy writing, making jewelry, and watching offlinetv on Youtube. They have not been published anywhere prior to Chewing Dirt but praised in school for multiple writing pieces.
