Sweet Forsythias

Mint tea summers in the sun
A taste of which compares to none
Walnut trees stretch stout and tall
Watch your head as they start to fall
Sweet forsythias end their fragrant blooms
And the streets now dance with a new perfume
As the August breeze is drawing near
I wish I hadn’t rushed the year
Cicadas sing at the break of day
I’ve always wondered just what they say
Sweat and grime drip down my nose
And beetles nip at my grass stained toes
I’d pick a bouquet of daisies again
If I had known it’d be the end
Sweet forsythias end their fragrant blooms
And the streets now dance with a new perfume
As the August breeze is drawing near
I wish I hadn’t rushed the years.
A taste of which compares to none
Walnut trees stretch stout and tall
Watch your head as they start to fall
Sweet forsythias end their fragrant blooms
And the streets now dance with a new perfume
As the August breeze is drawing near
I wish I hadn’t rushed the year
Cicadas sing at the break of day
I’ve always wondered just what they say
Sweat and grime drip down my nose
And beetles nip at my grass stained toes
I’d pick a bouquet of daisies again
If I had known it’d be the end
Sweet forsythias end their fragrant blooms
And the streets now dance with a new perfume
As the August breeze is drawing near
I wish I hadn’t rushed the years.
