That girl.

Patricia Wroblewski
Her body dances down the street like a willow tree swaying to the beat of the winds passing through. Her heels click on the pavement and I swear the world just creates a song focused on the speed of her walk. The boys follow her like a child chasing fireflies in the wilderness, their eyes lit up with something like excitement, surpassing lust and leaving love in the dust. She embodies a queen, elegant and proper, yielding the most important opinion in everyone else’s opinion. The world views her as an asset, something necessary for survival. Her eyes are the crystal balls fortune tellers use to tell the futures of the other souls that walk her earth. she looks down upon me with disgust, and anguish, just knowing her time is worth something and that something is not me. Because in her eyes, my body does not dance down the street. My body lingers through the crowd, blending in with the rest of the nothings that bombard her planet on the daily. My heels drag against the pavement, creating a sound that she claims causes her ears to bleed. No one could ever compare to the proclaimed queen, especially not me. My body could never slip into one of her dresses, not that she would let me try in the first place. My fingers are the stumps of all her beautiful tree like fingers, chopped down when a branch breaks off and she needs to start fresh. All the qualities I love about myself, she trumps indefinitely with something bigger, something better. The thoughts in her head couldn’t grasp the thoughts inside my head. I don’t know if she could ever love herself if she thought that way, even one thought out of place could set her whole world in flames. I think I would dance in those flames, celebrating the downfall of everyone’s favorite girl.
